– Mandarin Immersion Head of School / Lead Teacher
We are looking for a full-time Head of School/Lead Teacher to help build, design, and create the strategic plan for an exciting and innovative new private school in the Pasadena area. Our curriculum will need to be well planned out, thematically integrating connections between subjects, while also tying together the learning in all three languages. Our candidate should have strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to listen and quickly respond to the needs of students, staff and parents. This person should also be a self-starter, and able to coordinate, advise, and oversee Chinese teachers regarding specific curriculum, and standards issues. Much of the curriculum will need to be researched and purchased from overseas, and/or created, translated, and modified by staff members. Candidate will also need to teach one or two classes for the first few years while the school is in its formative stages. Our school is purposefully small; in our very first year, we are planning to have approximately 10 to 30 children. They should be a passionate about teaching know how to engage students in the classroom.
- Bachelor’s and/or Graduate Degree in Education, Child Development and/or Bilingual Education
- Candidate must be bilingual in English and Mandarin with a strong foundation and fluent literacy in traditional and simplified Chinese. Trilingual in English, Mandarin and Spanish a plus.
- Candidate must have 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience in a single language, bilingual, or trilingual setting. 5 to 10 years of experience a plus.
- Experience and/or training in inquiry-based learning a plus
CANDIDATE PROFILE – Elementary School Teacher with Emphasis in English and History
We are looking for part-time Elementary school teacher with strong knowledge in English Language Arts and history. This candidate should be trained in inquiry-based learning and have the ability to collaborate thematically across curriculum with other teachers, who will be teaching both Mandarin and Spanish in a trilingual school setting. Candidate should be passionate about teaching, and know how to engage students to ask questions, think deeply, and develop a love for learning! This teacher will teach in two small multi-age classroom setting with 15 to 18 students per class, ranging from K-4th grade. Bilingual Mandarin, or Spanish speaker a plus. Readers and Writers workshop, and/or Singapore Math training a plus. Please NO ESL teachers and no tutors unless you have proven lead classroom teaching experience.
CANDIDATE PROFILE – Spanish Teacher
We are looking for a part-time Spanish Language Arts teacher with inquiry-based training, and the ability to collaborate thematically across curriculum with other teachers who will be teaching both Mandarin and English in a trilingual school setting. Candidate should be a passionate about teaching, and know how to engage students to ask questions, think deeply, and develop a love for learning! This teacher will be teaching in two small multi-age classroom setting with 15 to 18 students per class, ranging from K- 4th grade. A background in art, music or drama a plus. Experience teaching K-4 is a must. These students’ native language is ENGLISH and they are learning Mandarin and Spanish to become multilingual.
